Heat mapping
Specific heat mapping is available for each dataset to reflect variation in the selected metric across topics, such as percent of literature funded by NIH. In the Literature dataset, you can view heat mapping based on:

Average RCR: The average (mean) RCR (Relative Citation Ratio) is the sum of all RCRs within the topic box (also known as weighted RCR) divided by the literature count in that topic. RCR represents the field- and time-normalized citation rate/influence of an article; an RCR of 2.0 indicates that a publication has received twice as many citations per year as expected. Learn more about RCR and the co-citation network.
- The RCR heat mapping is based on your search results and the related the percentiles. The RCR threshold is 0 to 3.81 (90th percentile). Any pub with an RCR of 2.4 or greater will be the darkest color. The minimum is 0 but the max could be 1.5 or over 100.

Average APT: The average (mean) APT (Approximate Potential to Translate) of the literature calculated for this topic box. APT is a machine learning-based estimate of the likelihood that an article will be cited in later clinical articles. Learn more about Approximate Potential to Translate.
- The thresholds for APT range between 5% and 95%. This is based on probabilities for APT, which range from from 5% meaning no detectable signatures of translation and 95% meaning extremely strong signatures of translation; intermediate values can be 25%, 50% or 75%. Colors will correspond to these buckets.

- The thresholds for this heat mapping are 0% and 100%. Values can be anywhere between.
