Overview
When you click Export, the Export Results dialog will open where you can provide a title for your file. If no title is entered, the file will simply be called “Untitled" along with the name of the dataset and the date and time.
Select the fields of data that should be included in the export file by selecting the checkbox to the left of the field name. For convenience, select the checkbox next to the group heading if you want to download all fields in that group. Conversely, deselect the checkbox next to the group heading if you want to exclude all fields in that group. Note that you can only do this in the dataset view, and options are specific to that dataset.
To look for a specific field, use the Lookup Fields search bar. Begin typing the name of the field, then select the checkbox to the left of the field. Use the “x” button to the right of the Lookup Fields search bar to clear the field search. To reset your field selections to the default settings, click the Reset to Default button.
After providing a title for the export and selecting all fields to be included in the export, click the Export button at the bottom right.
Advanced export (unwind/expand)
If you would like to unwind, or expand fields, as in separate out multi-valued fields into their own cells in the exported spreadsheet, such as multiple grants linked to a single publication, turn on Advanced Search at the bottom. This will then populate toggles beside fields that you have the ability to do this with. When you have turned on the fields you want to unwind/expand, continue to click Export.
Note that unwinding/expanding can create very large files, and other fields for the same record will have duplicate data. In addition, some fields will be unable to be exported to prevent the file from becoming too large.
Downloading the exported file
When the data has been exported, a notification will pop up in the top right. Click on the notifications icon and download the file. The download will show on your browser, and you can choose how to open it from there.
