The Search Overview (All Three Datasets) screen allows you to see results from all three datasets at once. It is important to understand that each dataset’s results are displayed independently of one another here.
If you wish to see how records from multiple datasets are linked, go into a specific dataset, such as Literature, then click on View Linked Data.
When performing a search across multiple datasets, always check the Search Fields button to ensure you are searching the appropriate fields for your search. Read more about this in the Search Strategies tutorials.
Navigation Trail
The navigation trail at the top allows you to keep track of which dataset you are currently exploring and how you reached it. By clicking on a term in the Navigation Trail, you can return to previous levels of a search.
Search Bar
You can start your search by entering a query in the search bar and clicking the magnifying glass to the right. For more information on how to construct a search, explore the Search Controls.
AND/OR
The radio buttons to the left of the search bar allow you to toggle between the search operators AND and OR. Learn more about the AND/OR search operators.
Search Fields
You can choose which fields to query by selecting them in Search Fields. For more information, visit the Search Fields section of the User Guide. Always check which Search Fields are selected prior to performing a search. If you have incorrect fields selected, you may see incorrect records in your results (false positives) or records that you want to see could be excluded from your results (false negatives).
Datasets
iSearch Analytics currently has three interlinked datasets (Literature, Grant Records, and Clinical Trials; People can also be found in the first two datasets). When you search a term, results for all three datasets are displayed in separate panes in the Search Overview. Each pane can be expanded into a table by clicking the arrows at the top right corner. To explore the dataset in more detail, click on the title of the pane. If you are within a single dataset, a search will only return results from that dataset in the results view.

Count by Year
Count by Year shows the number of records included per year for that dataset (Literature- Publication year, Grant Records- Fiscal year (FY), Clinical Trials- Start year). Hover the cursor over the graph to get detailed information for each year.
